Jonathan Stein

Jonathan Stein, PhD, HCLD(ABB) has extensive work experience in various roles within the field of biosciences and laboratory management.

Jonathan currently serves as the Chief Science Officer and Medical Director at Tesis Biosciences since August 2021.

Prior to that, they worked as an Instructor at Rice University starting from June 2012.

Jonathan has also held positions as a Medical Director at Gene By Gene from May 2021 to April 2022, as well as a Laboratory Director (Consultant) at GreyStone Laboratories from January 2021 to October 2021.

Jonathan has also served as a Laboratory Director (Consultant) at Gene Street, LLC from November 2019 to October 2021, and at Altru Diagnostics, Inc. from September 2019 to October 2021.

Jonathan has a long history with Spectracell Laboratories, where they held several roles including Director of Science and Quality, Associate Laboratory Director from March 2005 to September 2021, Chief Science Officer and Laboratory Director from November 2018 to August 2021, and Laboratory Director from August 2018 to November 2018.

Additionally, Jonathan worked as the Medical Director and Clinical Consultant at Apex Molecular Laboratories (formerly Excelsior Dx Labs) from December 2017 to December 2020.

Earlier in their career, they held the role of Associate DNA Lab Director at Identigene, Inc. and worked as a Research Investigator at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

Jonathan Stein, PhD, HCLD(ABB) completed their BA (Honors) degree in Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Jonathan then pursued their Ph.D. in Molecular and Cancer Genetics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston).

In addition to their degrees, Jonathan has obtained several certifications to further enhance their expertise. Jonathan achieved the Laboratory Director Qualification in various fields such as Clinical Chemistry, Endocrinology, Genetic Testing (Mol Pathology), and Oncology - Soluble Tumor Markers from the New York State Department of Health in February 2013. In January 2017, they acquired the TS(ABB) Technical Supervisor certification from the American Board of Bioanalysis. Lastly, in December 2017, they obtained the High Complexity Lab Director (HCLD ABB) certification from the same institution.
