Tariq King

Tariq King is the current Chief Scientist at Test.ai. Tariq has previously held the position of Senior Director and Head of Quality and Performance at Ultimate Software from January 2012 to November 2019. In this role, they were responsible for leading the day-to-day operations associated with software testing, quality, performance engineering, and release management for the entire product development organization. This included creating goals and setting priorities in these areas, and aligning them with the overall company objectives. Mr. King managed a team of quality directors, architects, technical leads, and engineers and oversaw the quality program that included a center of enablement for providing guidance, strategy, innovation, and outreach on engineering best practices.

Prior to their time at Ultimate Software, Mr. King was the Head of Engineering at Wowiwe Instruction Co from January 2011 to December 2012. In this role, they delivered instructor-led and self-paced learning content, coaching, and mentorship in software testing and quality engineering to engineering professionals across the globe.

Mr. King began their career as an Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University from January 2009 to December 2012. Tariq then went on to work as a Research Fellow in Software Test Engineering at International Business Machines from May 2008 to July 2008.

Tariq King has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Florida International University, a Master of Science in Computer Science from Florida International University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the Florida Institute of Technology. Tariq also has an Associate of Arts degree in Computer Science, Economics, and Geography from Barbados Community College. In addition, they are certified by Fierce, Inc. in Fierce Generations, Fierce Coaching, Fierce Confrontation, Fierce Delegation, and Fierce Team.
