Stephen Franklin

VP, Facilities, Safety & Secuirty at Texas A&M University

Stephen Franklin is currently the VP of Facilities, Safety, and Security at Texas A&M University. Before this, they served as the Director of Facilities Planning and Management at Texas A&M University at Qatar from February 2004 to March 2009. In this role, they were the point person for TAMU-Q's interests in the design and construction of a $475 million, 595,000 sq. ft. College of Engineering in Doha, Qatar. The facility included research and classroom space for Chemical, Petroleum, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments.

Franklin consulted with Qatar Foundation's V.P. Capital Projects & Facilities, executive architects, project management firm and contractors to ensure that TAMU-Q's program of requirements was included in the final structure. Stephen also recommended action plans for the Dean and CEO of TAMU-Q for review on matters concerning the Qatar Foundation, who oversaw operations at Education City.

In addition to these duties, Franklin also designed and managed building modifications of temporary classroom, office, and research facilities. Stephen also administered and procured off-campus housing for faculty and staff in Doha, Qatar ($5.8 million annually). Finally, they developed and maintained imports and exports associated with TAMU-Q. This included research and academic equipment and business and employee mail.

Stephen Franklin has a Masters in Architecture from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor's in Environmental Design from Texas A&M University, and an Associates Arts from Santa Fe Community College.

Stephen Franklin reports to M. Katherine Banks, President. They work with Joseph P. Pettibon, II - VP, Enrollment & Academic Services, Timothy P. Scott - EVP, Interim Provost, and Fuhui Tong - Associate Provost and Dean of the Graduate and Professional School.
