Dr. Danielle Durant is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), where she teaches primarily for the undergraduate Healthcare Administration program, specifically Quality and Evaluation in Healthcare, The Healthcare System, and Project Management in Healthcare. While pursuing her PhD in Public Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management and Policy at Rockefeller College of SUNY Albany, Dr. Durant was employed for several years at the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) in their Quality Advocacy and Research Initiatives (QARI) division. Within QARI, she served as Project Management Coordinator for the New York State Partnership for Patients (NYSPFP) program, a $15 million contract with the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) aimed at the prevention of hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) and other adverse events in NYS Hospitals. This program achieved a reduction in patient harm by way of implementation of clinical best practices through process improvement projects. Before her appointment at HANYS, Dr. Durant was a Graduate Fellow at the New York State Department of Health, working directly with New York State Medicaid Director, Jason Helgerson, on Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment (DSRIP) program implementation, as well as policy liaison for implementation of the New York Medicaid Management Inforamtion System. She completed her PhD dissertation, Exploring Three Strategies for the Prevention of Hospital-Acquired Clostridium Difficile Infection in NYS Acute Care Hospitals—Structure, Process, Outcome Model of Quality Improvement, in 2018, graduating with her PhD, and accepted appointment with TAMUCC in 2021. Dr. Durant has ten years of prior teaching experience in the Schools of Business at Clarkson University and Widener University. Additionally, she has a BSc in Finance and Economics, an MBA in Management, an MSc in Engineering Management, and has recently become a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt with ASQ. She has a two part personal and professional mission: (1) make healthcare safe for those who need it, (2) keep people healthy and out of the healthcare system through healthy lifestyle behaviors. To help her achieve the second of these two goals, Dr. Durant is a student in the Ingetrative Health Sciences masters program with Sydney Kimmel Medical School of Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA. In this program, she studies integrative nutrition, mind-body medicine, and integrative medicine coaching.
