Sarah Kiehl Carlson

Sarah Kiehl Carlson has a strong background in nutrition programs, specifically in implementing and administering policies, regulations, and grants. Sarah has worked for various departments in Texas, starting with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission where they served as a Program Specialist V from 2003 to 2007. Sarah then moved to the Texas Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Division, where they worked as a Policy Development Specialist from 2007 to 2012. In this role, they were responsible for developing program policies, procedures, manuals, standards, and plans for several federal nutrition programs. Sarah continued their work in the Texas Department of Agriculture as the Compliance Monitor from 2012 to 2015, then as the Coordinator for School Operations from 2015 to 2016, and finally as the Assistant Director for School Operations from 2016 onwards.

Sarah Kiehl Carlson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, where they studied from 1994 to 2000.
