Student Scholar at Texas Heart Institute

Chris Tan is a Research Engineer at The Texas Heart Institute, leading the development of a novel four-chamber mock circulatory loop for cardiac assist devices. Simultaneously, Chris serves as a Physical Exam Teaching Associate and a Standardized Patient at Texas A&M Health Science Center, teaching and simulating clinical scenarios for medical education. As Project Lead for Engineers Serving the Community at Texas A&M University, Chris leads engineering projects for Health For All, including designing an irrigation system for a community garden. Additional roles include serving as an Organic Chemistry Learning Assistant and conducting research in the Sketch Recognition Lab, contributing to autism diagnosis through image processing algorithms. Chris is also involved with CARPOOL, a non-profit organization focused on community safety. Education includes a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University, with a semester exchange at Swansea University, and recognition as Salutatorian at Round Rock High School.
