Jia Chen

Jia Chen is an experienced educator and reporter with a strong background in music and language instruction. Currently serving as an Elementary Music Teacher at the Austin Independent School District since October 2022, Jia Chen organizes instructional lessons that support the educational and emotional growth of students while fostering positive relationships within the school community. As a Reporter for Texas Public Radio since June 2021, Jia Chen contributes to the production of the talk show "The Source" and develops local news segments. Previously, Jia Chen worked as a Mandarin Teacher at Tohuí Language Academy, where a curriculum for young children was created, and maintained communication with parents regarding students' progress. Additional experience includes serving as a DLPT Mandarin Instructor at SEFLA Languages. Jia Chen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from The University of Texas at San Antonio and an Associate of Arts in Journalism from San Antonio College.
