Jason Oby

Jason Oby is an accomplished music educator and administrator with extensive experience at Texas Southern University since 1996, currently serving as Acting Dean and Chairperson of the Department of Music. Responsibilities include developing academic programs, managing budgets, and conducting performance reviews, while also mentoring adjunct instructors and supporting strategic departmental goals. Oby has held various roles including Interim Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences, where activities such as student learning enhancement and organizing a research conference were spearheaded. Additionally, Oby serves as Artistic Director for the Houston Ebony Opera Guild, overseeing artistic productions, and previously held roles at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Houston and Alabama State University. Academic credentials include a Doctor of Music from Florida State University and both a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music.
