Ted Lehr has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Ted began their career at IBM as a Software and Performance Engineer, where they measured, analyzed, and predicted the performance of various server systems. Ted also transferred performance analysis technology to the IBM-Austin lab, improving engineers' understanding of their designs. Following their time at IBM, Ted worked at CA Technologies and Hyperformix in software engineering, support, and management roles. Ted implemented data analysis algorithms and automated the creation and evaluation of performance models for computer systems. Ted also supported the growth of an Agile development environment for the product team. In 2014, Ted joined Texas State University as an Adjunct Lecturer, teaching introductory courses in digital logic and software engineering. Ted was also involved in advising the student computer science club and received awards for their teaching. Furthermore, Ted served as a Senior Lecturer and Director of Undergraduate Recruitment for the Computer Science department, starting in January 2022. Additionally, they worked at the City of Austin as a Data Architect, leading initiatives related to open data, intelligent infrastructure, and research partnerships with universities. Ted collaborated with community partners, including the Autonomy Institute, to position the city in effectively utilizing new technologies. More recently, Ted became an Advisor at the Autonomy Institute in 2022.
Ted Lehr received their Bachelor of Science and Arts (BSBA) degree in Electrical Engineering and Philosophy from Bucknell University, from 1978 to 1983. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 1983 to 1985. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University from 1985 to 1990.
