Erika Salmon is a Website Coordinator at Textbook Ventures. Prior to that, they were with eSecure Pty Ltd - Australia & International as a Cyber Security Analyst for a year. There, they observed cyber simulation exercises and noted all client responses to injects, analysed for process and procedural gaps in incident response, and reported and communicated gaps and recommendations within internal incident response processes.

Erika is also a Splunk SME, creating, extending, and tuning security rules/alerts in Splunk Cloud and Splunk Enterprise Security for standard and custom use-cases, as well as for PCI and OpenBanking compliance. Erika has also evaluated and mapped incoming data sources for relevancy, accuracy, and value; configured parsing rules to extract relevant fields and information normalising the data Splunk’s Common Information Model (CIM) where possible; and wrote subsequent security procedural documentation based on configured security rules/alerts.

In addition, Erika is also a Phantom SME, evaluating existing playbooks and logic trees, ensuring efficiency and workability; and creating playbooks for data enrichment and automating security operations, investigation, and response.

Lastly, Erika is an Azure Sentinel SME, creating, extending and tuning security rules/alerts; creating security-focused workbooks for visualisation around security operations and activity; and writing procedural documentation of multi-environment Sentinel configuration alignment.

Erika Salmon has a Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security from Charles Sturt University, a Diploma of Network Security from Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE, and various certification from Antisyphon Training, Fortinet, and Antisyphon InfoSec Training.
