James Stone CPA has over 30 years of work experience in various roles in the accounting and financial industry. James started their career as a Senior Accountant at Golden LivingCenters in 1986, where they were responsible for cost accounting, financial accounting, and governmental reimbursement analysis. James then worked as an Accounting Manager at Select Medical, where they managed the company's financial operations and provided therapy services.

In 1995, James joined the Inova Health System as a Financial Analysis Supervisor, responsible for the annual budget process and conducting strategic financial analysis. James then worked at Georgetown University as a Budget Officer, managing accounting professionals and performing cost analysis for health policy projects.

In 1999, James joined PwC as a Senior Associate, where they performed financial statement audits and compliance audits for private sector clients. James later joined KPMG US as a Manager Advisory Services, managing large teams and performing compliance audits and testing for a financial services company.

James returned to PwC in 2006 as a Director of Management Consulting, and then worked at TFC Consulting, Inc. as a Managing Director. Currently, they are a Senior Manager at BDO USA, LLP.

Throughout their career, James has demonstrated expertise in financial management, auditing, budgeting, and strategic analysis.

James Stone CPA has a strong educational background in business and accounting. James obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Business Analytics from Indiana University - Kelley School of Business in 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from William & Mary - Raymond A. Mason School of Business in the years 1989 to 1992. Their undergraduate studies were completed at Virginia Tech - Pamplin College of Business, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting from 1982 to 1986.

In addition to their formal education, James Stone CPA has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. These certifications include Certified Fraud Examiner from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Certified Government Financial Manager from the Association of Government Accountants (AGA), Certified Information Systems Auditor from ISACA, Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc., Certified Public Accountant from the Virginia State Board of Accountancy, and Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute.
