Gareth Mullen

Gareth Mullen has extensive experience in health, safety, and wellbeing within the water utility sector, primarily at Thames Water since 1999. Currently serving as the Head of Health Safety & Wellbeing (Strategy, Assurance & Systems), Gareth leads the development and delivery of HSW systems, spearheading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and efficiency. Previous roles at Thames Water include Head of Safety, Health & Wellbeing (Retail & Group Services) and Safety, Health & Wellbeing Manager, where Gareth focused on achieving the company’s vision of Zero Incidents and providing expert support. Earlier career positions involved managing business services and operational resilience, enhancing disaster recovery planning, and developing event management strategies. Gareth also has experience from MUJV Ltd, handling business assurance systems and client liaison for utilities management. An educational background includes a Certificate in Management from The Open University.
