Dan Lombardo

Director, Persistent Surveillance at ThayerMahan

Dan’s portfolio of responsibility at ThayerMahan includes mission planning, logistics, testing, and the staffing and analysis of their maritime operations.

Dan held a variety of operational and staff positions over the course of his successful 23-year career in the U.S. Navy, including numerous tours of duty and the command of a nuclear submarine. He was a Military Professor at the College of Maritime Operational Warfare; naval and radar portfolio manager for the Capabilities and Acquisition Division, Joint Staff, J-8, Pentagon; and Senior Watch Officer for Commander Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Forces, Western Atlantic. His wide-ranging responsibilities have included submarine operations, theater ASW planning and operations, observer and trainer for multiple fleet-level multi-national military exercises, and acquisition and budget analysis for the Staff of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff.

As a Master Training Specialist and subject matter expert in Navy Operational Planning for the U.S. Naval War College, he guided the training and certification of four of the Navy’s Maritime Operations Centers. Additionally, he provided post-graduate level education to tactical and operational organizations in maritime operations, operational assessment, and operational planning.

Dan and his wife, Lisa, have two sons and live in Salem, Connecticut.
