Judy Fairburn has extensive work experience in various industries and roles. Judy co-founded and serves as the Co-CEO and General Partner at The51, a financial feminism platform and women-led venture fund. Judy is also a Committee Chair on the Board of Directors at PETRONAS and a Board Director at VEERUM, a venture-backed digital technology firm. Judy has served as a Board Member at DeNova Inc and as a Fellow in Energy Transition and Agriculture at the Creative Destruction Lab. Additionally, they have been a Selection Panel Member for the Canadian Global Hypergrowth Project and a Board Director at MEG Energy Corp. Judy has also held positions as a Board Director at Sustainable Development Technology Canada and as a Table Member for the Resources of the Future Economic Strategy Table. Judy has also served as the Board Chair at Alberta Innovates, where they facilitated the merger of four crown corporations into one. Judy'sexpertise spans finance, sustainability, technology, and resource sectors.
Judy Fairburn holds an MBA in Business Administration and Management, General from the Ivey Business School at Western University, which they obtained from 1999 to 2001. Judy also possesses an MSc in Chemical Engineering from the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary, which they completed from 1986 to 1988. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as the Directors Education Program from the Institute of Corporate Directors in 2020, Mastering Negotiations: Building Agreements Across Boundaries from Harvard Kennedy School in 2014, and Professional Engineer from The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) in 1995.
