WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: Country Manager

JOB PURPOSE

The Country Manager plays a pivotal leadership role in A21’s global anti-human trafficking efforts, spearheading and coordinating all activities within Spain. This position necessitates an unwavering dedication to combating human trafficking and exceptional managerial and strategic acumen to propel the organisation's mission and vision forward. The Country Manager is accountable for the successful implementation of impactful programs, fostering strategic partnerships, overseeing operations, and guiding a passionate team towards achieving tangible outcomes in the relentless battle against human trafficking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic Leadership 

  • Provide visionary leadership to staff and volunteers to help guide the organization's anti-human trafficking initiatives.

  • Develop and implement a strategic plan for Spain in line with the organisations overall mission and goals.

  • Stay on top of emerging trends, best practices, and legislative developments in the field of anti-human trafficking.

  • Oversee and assist the Intervention Coordinator with the overall vision of A21 in the area of Rescue

  • Oversee and assist the Rescue Coordinator with the overall vision of A21 in the area of Reach.

  • Identify future opportunities to expand current operations and develop new initiatives in Spain.

  • Manage the development and growth of the Hotline.

  • Represent the organization in high-level meetings, conferences, and forums related to anti-human trafficking efforts.

Programme Development and Implementation

  • Oversee the implementation, and evaluation of global projects on a local level.

  • Contextualise and localize global resources to be distributed across Spain.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations, to foster partnerships and maximize programme impact.

  • Take a leading role in organizing and overseeing the annual Walk For Freedom event in the UK, ensuring its successful execution.

  • Provide guidance and support to supporters hosting Walk for Freedom events throughout Spain on a yearly basis.

Management

  • Recruit, train, and mentor staff to effectively execute programme activity

  • Provide guidance and support to staff, promoting A21’s core values and culture

  • In liaison with the Senior Talent Officer (STO) and Europe Regional Director carry out 1-2-1 meetings with all SP Staff/Volunteer(s)

  • Develop and implement office policies in line with that of the global A21 organisation

  • Establish office standards and procedures in line with that of the global A21 organisation

  • Organise office operations and procedures

  • Maintenance of day-to-day office needs

  • Ensure filing systems are maintained and current

  • Establish procedures for record keeping

  • Ensure security and confidentiality of records and data

  • Provide weekly management reports to the European Regional Director

  • Maintain a safe and secure working environment for all staff/volunteers and visitors to A21

  • Maintain a fair and equitable environment for all staff/volunteers and visitors to A21

Finance & Budgeting 

  • Prepare and manage the budget for the Spain Field Office, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial guidelines and organizational goals

  • Liaise with the global accountant to fulfill any banking requirements specific to the Spain Field Office, following established protocols and guidelines

  • Support audits and financial reviews as needed, providing necessary documentation and information

Fundraising & Partnerships

  • Collaborate with the fundraising team to support the growth and development of Partner Support initiatives in Spain.

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with churches and ministries, actively seeking opportunities to involve the church community in the fight against trafficking.

  • Act as a representative of A21, actively engaging with churches, ministries, partners, supporters, and volunteers to increase awareness and support.

  • Attend and represent A21 at various anti-trafficking events, ranging from civil society gatherings to government forums. Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in the anti-trafficking field, leveraging this knowledge to enhance partner engagement strategies.

General

  • Any other duties, which may be applicable within the scope and role of the position.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, international relations, business administration or a related discipline.
  • Experience in Non-Profit Sector: Previous experience working in the non-profit sector, preferably in a leadership role, is highly valuable. This could include experience in program management, fundraising, advocacy, or organizational development.
  • Knowledge of the Cause: A deep understanding of the mission, values, and goals of ending human trafficking, as well as a passion for the cause.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of effectively managing teams, motivating staff, and achieving organizational goals. The ability to inspire, mentor, and empower staff and volunteers is crucial.
  • Strategic Thinking: The capacity to think strategically and develop long-term plans and objectives. This includes the ability to identify new opportunities, anticipate challenges, and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Partnership Development: Experience in building and maintaining partnerships with external stakeholders such as government agencies, NGOs, community organizations, and funders. The ability to cultivate strong relationships and collaborate with diverse groups is essential.
  • Financial Management: Proficiency in financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation. Experience in fundraising and grant management is highly beneficial.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey the organization's mission and engage various audiences. This includes public speaking, presentation skills, and the ability to represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Cross-Cultural Competence: The ability to work effectively in diverse cultural contexts and with individuals from different backgrounds. This includes cultural sensitivity, adaptability, and an understanding of global and local dynamics.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Integrity and Ethics: Demonstrated ability to uphold, safeguard, and promote organization’s values and philosophy, particularly relating to ethics, integrity and corporate social responsibility. The ability to handle sensitive information and maintain the highest standards of professionalism is crucial.
  • Tech Savviness: Proficiency in using technology and digital tools, including office productivity software, project management platforms, and communication tools, to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
