Catherine Koppelman has over 40 years of work experience, with a strong background in nursing leadership and patient care. Catherine'smost recent role was as an Executive in Residence for the CNO Forum at The Health Management Academy. Earlier in their career, Catherine held several positions at University Hospitals and UH Case Medical Center, including System Chief Nursing and Patient Experience Officer, as well as System Chief Nursing Officer and CNO for UH/Case Medical Center. In these roles, they were responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating nursing standards, practices, education, and research. Catherine also played a key role in enhancing patient experience and improving the culture of care.

Before their time at University Hospitals, Catherine worked as Vice-President of Patient Care Services at Summa Health System, overseeing nursing staff development, hospital departments, and service lines.

Catherine also held leadership positions at Mt Sinai Health Care System, where they served as Assistant Vice-President and Vice-President of Nursing, and at The MetroHealth System, where they were Assistant Director of Emergency/Ambulatory Nursing and Critical Care Nursing.

Catherine began their career as a staff RN at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, where they served as a LTJG U.S. Navy Nurse in medical-surgical and MICU/CCU units. Catherine also worked as a staff RN at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

In 2006, they completed the Johnson and Johnson Nurse Executive Fellowship Program at The Wharton School, focusing on Nursing Administration. Subsequently, in 2011 to 2012, they attended the Harvard Business School for an Executive Education program on Health Care Delivery Redesign, further expanding their knowledge in this area.

In recent years, Catherine has pursued advanced certifications. From 2014 to 2019, they obtained a Board Certification in Nurse Executive Advanced from the American Nursing Credentialing Center, showcasing their expertise and leadership in the nursing field. Additionally, in 2016, they completed a Certificate Program in Executive Coaching from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University, specializing in Executive Coaching.
