Daniel Wake is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research and policy development within the higher education sector. Currently serving as Head of Science Base and Careers Policy at The Academy of Medical Sciences since November 2024, Daniel previously held the position of Head of Research Policy at Universities UK from June 2017 to November 2024, leading initiatives focused on the impact, effectiveness, and sustainability of university research. Earlier roles at Universities UK included Policy Manager and Policy Analyst, where Daniel managed research and security policy programmes and performed original policy analysis. Prior to this, Daniel served as Senior Researcher at CIPFA from June 2014 to June 2017, where responsibilities included delivering high-quality research services and developing new research approaches. Daniel's career began as a Research Officer at the British Universities Finance Directors' Group, following a Graduate Internship. Daniel holds a Master of Arts in Media and Cultural Analysis and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, along with education from Lund University and Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School.
