Maurice Baynard

Vice President, Community Learning at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

Maurice Baynard has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Maurice is currently (since 2022) serving as the Vice President of Community Learning at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Prior to this, they co-founded Broad Side Collective in 2020. In 2015, Maurice co-founded and served as the Director of Process & Start-Up Operations at THE BRAVE, where they provided strategic and accounting services to emerging early-stage companies. From 2012 to 2022, they held multiple roles at The University of the Arts, including Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Assistant Professor, and Faculty Advisor. Additionally, they have worked as a Regional Operations Manager at Redbird Advanced Learning, Administrator of the Robert Noyce Scholarship Program at Drexel University, Adjunct Professor at Penn State University and Drexel University, and Instructor of Biology at Community College of Philadelphia. Maurice also worked as a Pre-doctoral Researcher in Sleep and Chronobiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine from 2001 to 2007.

Maurice Baynard began their education in 1996 at Drexel University, where they pursued a Master's degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. Maurice completed their studies at Drexel University in 1999. In 2000, Baynard furthered their education by enrolling at the University of Pennsylvania. Maurice undertook a Ph.D. program focusing on Sleep and chronobiology, which they successfully completed in 2005.
