Deborah England Gray has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field. Deborah has held various roles in different companies, including Safety Insurance, The Achievement Network, Independent General Counsel, Acquia, Charles River Laboratories, Sapient, Harcourt, and WilmerHale.
Deborah served as a Board Member at Safety Insurance starting in 2022. Prior to that, they were the Vice President and General Counsel at The Achievement Network since 2015, where they led all day-to-day legal initiatives and established the company's data privacy and security compliance program.
From 2014 until the present, Deborah has worked as an Independent General Counsel, providing legal services to executive management teams and boards of various start-up and businesses.
At Acquia, they were the Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary from 2011 to 2013. Deborah played a critical role in scaling the company and overseeing legal matters, including M&A activities and negotiation of client contracts.
From 2002 to 2011, Deborah served as the Chief Employment Counsel/Senior Corporate Counsel at Charles River Laboratories, handling SEC and NYSE reporting and compliance, licensing, employment law, and general commercial contracts.
Deborah also worked at Sapient as the Vice President, Business Development in 2001 and later as the Vice President and General Counsel from 1995 to 2000. In this role, they led worldwide legal affairs, built a global legal team, and oversaw commercial contracting, litigation, and IP licensing.
Deborah's work experience includes a role as Senior Corporate/SEC Counsel at Harcourt from 1993 to 1995, where they handled acquisitions, contract negotiations, and SEC compliance for multiple companies.
Deborah began their legal career at WilmerHale as an Associate in the Corporate Department from 1988 to 1993 and later became a Junior Partner in 1993.
Throughout their career, Deborah England Gray has demonstrated expertise in legal compliance, corporate governance, M&A, and contract negotiations, making their a valuable asset to any organization.
Deborah England Gray completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a major in Government from Colby College in 1985. Subsequently, they attended Boston College Law School from 1985 to 1988 where they obtained their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law. Additionally, in 1983 and 1984, they studied Spanish at Saint Louis University. Later, in 2004, they received an Honorary MA degree from Colby College, though the field of study for this particular degree is not specified.
