John Bruning

Supervising Litigation Attorney at The Advocates for Human Rights

John Bruning currently serves as Supervising Litigation Attorney at The Advocates for Human Rights since March 2020, previously holding the position of Staff Attorney in the Refugee & Immigrant Program. Prior experience includes working as an Attorney at Kim Hunter Law, P.L.L.C. focusing on removal defense and federal litigation from January 2017 to February 2020, and serving as a Student Advocate at the University of Minnesota Student Conflict Resolution Center. Additional roles comprised of an Ella Baker Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Rights, Law Clerk positions at various legal organizations, and a Project Organizer for the American Federation of Teachers. John Bruning obtained a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School and holds a Master's degree in Sociology from UC Irvine, as well as a Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
