Protogène Nsengumuremyi has been working in the finance and accounting field since 1989. From 1989 to 1992, they worked as an Accountant at IMPRISCO. From 1992 to 1998, they worked as the Head of Accounting, Budget and Treasury Department at the Specialized Organisation of CEPGL in charge of Energy (EGL). From 1998 to 2011, they worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, first as Director of Finance and Administration, then as Imprest Accountant Officer for the European Union Funds (EU), Senior Accountant, Director of Finance and Internal Resources Management, and finally as Chief of Division - Finance of Rwanda Diplomatic and Consular Missions. From 2011 to 2017, they worked at the Rwanda High Commission - Nigeria as Counselor and Chief Budget Manager, and at times as Head of Mission as Chargé d'Affaires. Since 2017, they have been working as the Chief Financial Officer at The African Boss, where they have also written professional articles for the African Boss Magazine Issues 1, 2 and 3.
Protogène Nsengumuremyi obtained a Master of Business Administration - MBA from the Indian Institute of Commerce and Trade in 2014, specializing in Banking and Foreign Trade. Before that, they obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration - BBA from the School of Finance and Banking - SFB in 2006, specializing in Accounting and Finance. Additionally, they have obtained a number of certifications, including the Development Diplomacy for Peace and Security (DDPS) Course Certificate from the Kofi Anan Peacekeeping Training Center in Accra, Ghana in 2013, Training and realigning Rwanda’s Commercial Diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda in 2011, the 10th European Union Development Fund (EDF) Financial Contractual Procedures Training from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda in 2010, the International Computer Driving Licene (ICDL/ECDL) from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, KIST in 2008, IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards) and Financial Reporting Training Program from the Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management in 2007, the Advanced Computer Training Program Certificate from the Department of Computer Sciences, Engineering of the Southeast University in Nainjing, China in 2002, and How to implement Management Control Systems from the Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management in 2001.
