Erika Alden DeBenedictis

Erika Alden DeBenedictis is a prominent figure in the fields of biological and biosystems engineering, known for leadership roles in innovative projects. Currently serving as CEO and Co-Founder of Pioneer Labs, Erika is dedicated to advancing biomanufacturing for space applications. As a Group Leader at The Francis Crick Institute, Erika oversees the Biodesign Laboratory, while also contributing as a Resident at Astera Institute. Co-Founder of Align to Innovate, Erika focuses on enhancing life science research through programmable experiments. Erika's previous experience includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the Institute for Protein Design, a graduate program at MIT, and positions at NASA's JPL and various research institutions, including internships at D.E. Shaw Research and Sandia National Laboratories. Education includes a PhD in Biological/Biosystems Engineering from MIT and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Caltech.
