Sandy Piersol has a deep understanding of ALS and the needs of its community due to her own personal experience, as she lost her brother Dennis to the disease in 2005. Determined to get involved in the fight, she joined the Association’s Greater Philadelphia chapter, becoming a board member of the Board of Overseers in 2006 and was elected to its Board of Trustees in 2009. She then became the Chair of the Board of Overseers in 2013 until it was dissolved in 2018. She held various officer positions as Chair of the chapter’s Development Committee and Secretary of both boards as well as the Chair of the Overseers. She also became the chapter’s representative on the Association’s Board of Representatives. She joined the national Board of Trustees in 2021.
Sandy has worked in the healthcare industry for more than 25 years in areas of compliance, operations, Durable Medical Equipment (DME), homecare, and academic medical centers. Currently, she is working as Senior Director and Compliance Officer at McBee, a division of Netsmart Technologies, Inc. She has broad strengths in healthcare operations, healthcare fraud, and abuse, and compliance risk management.
