Emily Bruner has a diverse work experience, starting in 2013 as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Emily then worked as a Teaching Fellow for teachNOLA from June 2014 to May 2015. Following that, they became a Special Education Teacher at Celerity Woodmere Elementary School from July 2014 to January 2017. In 2017, they joined Young Audiences Charter Schools as a Special Education Teacher until August 2018. Emily then served as a Special Education Coordinator from August 2018 to July 2021, and currently holds the position of Director of Special Education at the same school. Alongside their teaching career, they also worked as a Research Intern at The Opportunity Institute from January 2020 to May 2020 and as a Summer Associate at TrueSchool Studio in June 2019.
Emily Bruner obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Gender Studies from the University of New Orleans in 2013. Emily then pursued a Master of Education degree in Education Policy at American University from 2018 to 2020.
