Anita Gonzalez

Anita Gonzalez is a prominent figure in the field of theatre, currently serving as a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences since September 2023. As a professor and co-founder of the Georgetown Racial Justice Institute at Georgetown University since May 2021, Anita has significantly contributed to academic discourse on racial justice in the arts. Between 2004 and the present, Anita has also been an active member of the Dramatists Guild of America and the National Theatre Conference, and has worked as a director/choreographer with Stage Directors and Choreographers. Previous roles include serving as the associate dean at the University of Michigan, where Anita also taught theatre and drama, and as the executive director of Art Boundaries Unlimited Inc. Anita began academic career at Florida State University and has an extensive educational background with a Ph.D. in Performing Arts: Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
