Elizabeth Dickey

Elizabeth Dickey has a strong academic background in materials science and engineering. Elizabeth is currently serving as a Professor and Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, a position they have held since January 2021. In addition, they are the President of The American Ceramic Society, starting in October 2021. Prior to their current roles, they worked at North Carolina State University as a Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering from 2011 to January 2021. Elizabeth also held the position of Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Associate Director of Materials Research Institute at Penn State University from 2001 to 2010. Earlier in their career, they worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky from 1997 to 2001.

Elizabeth Dickey obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Kentucky, pursuing this from 1988 to 1992. Elizabeth continued their educational journey by obtaining their Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University, which they pursued from 1992 to 1997.
