John Mauro has extensive work experience in the field of materials science and engineering. John is currently serving as the Dorothy Pate Enright Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and Chair of the Intercollege Graduate Degree Program at Penn State University. John is also an Associate Department Head for Graduate Education at the same institution.
John has held several roles at various organizations. John served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society at The American Ceramic Society and is currently an Editor for the same journal. John is a Member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Lifetime Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.
John has also been recognized as a Fellow of the Society of Glass Technology and has served as a Reviewer for Grimdark Magazine. John is currently an Editorial Board Member for MRS Bulletin at the Materials Research Society and has previously served as a Specialty Chief Editor for Frontiers in Materials: Glass Science.
Before joining academia, John had a successful career at Corning Incorporated, where they held various research and engineering positions. John made significant contributions to the development of commercial glass compositions and the understanding of glass properties. John also developed innovative models for predicting viscosity and glass transition behavior.
John Mauro earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Alfred University in 2001. John then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Glass Engineering Science from the same institution, which they completed in 2001. Afterward, they went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Glass Science from Alfred University in 2006.
