Sonia Chajet Wides

Sonia Chajet Wides is an experienced History Department Office and Event Assistant at Amherst College, contributing to organizational, promotional, and administrative tasks since September 2021. Sonia has previously served as an Environmental Science Research Assistant in the Hewitt lab, focusing on climate change impacts on Arctic ecosystems, and held roles in journalism with The Amherst Student as Managing Features Editor and Managing News Editor. Additionally, Sonia completed internships at The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and The Current, where responsibilities included collection management and investigative reporting, respectively. Other experiences include founding Teens Resist, a political action resource center for teens, and working as a teaching assistant for a Hebrew and Jewish studies program. Sonia holds a Bachelor's degree in History from Amherst College and an Associate of Arts degree from Bard College.
