Kari Bates

Kari Bates is the current President & CEO at The Arc Jacksonville, Inc. Kari has over 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with a focus on education and outreach programs.

Bates began their career as a Coordinator for Community Outreach Education at Flagler Hospital in 2008. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating educational programs and events for the hospital, as well as developing relationships with community partners.

In 2013, Bates was promoted to Manager of Education Programs at Flagler Hospital. In this role, they oversaw and implemented Life Institute and Cancer Institute activities at the hospital. Kari also managed the Cancer Education program and Support Center activities, Commission on Cancer and NAPBC Accreditations, patient education, computer-based learning, grants, student affiliations and placements, and Institutional Review Board.

During their time at Flagler Hospital, Bates wrote, procured, and managed over $300K in grant funding for various hospital programs. Kari also met the hospital's need for CNAs by developing a training program funded by CareerSource that successfully graduated over 30 CNAs. Additionally, they spearheaded efforts to earn initial accreditation from Commission on Cancer National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). Bates also developed the Cancer Patient Navigator program and recruited and trained two RN patient navigators. Lastly, they developed the inaugural medical student partnership with the University of Central Florida.

In December 2015, Bates left Flagler Hospital to become the President & CEO at The Arc Jacksonville, Inc., where they currently serve.

Kari Bates has a Bachelor's in Health Services Administration from University of Central Florida and a Masters in Health Services Administration from University of Central Florida.
