Rebecca Shrimpton

Rebecca Shrimpton currently serves as the Australian Country Director at The Asia Group, a position held since December 2024. Prior to this role, Rebecca was the Director for Defence, Strategy, and National Security at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute from June 2022 to December 2024, and also directed The Sydney Dialogue during that time. Rebecca's experience includes serving as the Head of Defence, Space, and Infrastructure at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) from January 2021 to June 2022, and as Senior Adviser Major Powers in the Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women from July 2019 to January 2021. Additionally, Rebecca held the position of Director at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Counsellor Defence Strategic Policy at the Embassy of Australia in Washington DC, focusing on engagement with US officials on various defence policy issues. Rebecca's career in the Department of Defence of Australia spanned from February 2001 to January 2021. Educational qualifications include a Masters of Strategic Studies from The Australian National University.
