Chris Estes has a diverse work experience in the nonprofit sector. Chris is currently working as the Co-Executive Director of the Community Strategies Group at The Aspen Institute. Prior to that, they served as the Associate Director at The Aspen Institute. Before joining The Aspen Institute, Chris worked as a Senior Consultant Contract at Housing Assistance Council and as a Nonprofit Consultant at Armstrong McGuire & Associates. Chris also served as an Interim Executive Director and Consultant at The Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness, where they successfully led financial reorganization efforts and secured funding applications. Chris has held various leadership roles throughout their career, including President at National Housing Conference, Executive Director at NC Housing Coalition, and Director of Resource Development at Durham's Partnership for Children. Chris has also contributed to organizations such as Urban Land Institute and Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation in advisory and programmatic roles. Chris Estes has a diverse education history. Chris earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1987. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma from Loomis Chaffee School in 1983. Later, they pursued a Master's degree in Social Work, specializing in Community Practice and Planning, which they completed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2000. Chris also earned a Master's degree in Housing and Community Development from the same university in 2002.
