Katherine Hu is currently an assistant in the newsroom operations at The Atlantic. Prior to this, they were an intern at the Los Angeles Times where they wrote opinion pieces on breaking news events with a quick turnaround. Katherine also helped solicit, edit, and fact-check opinion pieces from writers and review op-ed submissions. Katherine has also interned at the Yale Law Journal where they were responsible for proofreading and copy editing legal scholarship for the Journal for logical errors and inconsistencies. Katherine has also been a volunteer at the Yale Prison Education Initiative where they ran op-ed workshops for incarcerated students at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution.
Katherine Hu graduated with a B.A. in Theirtory from Yale University, where they received distinction in their major. Katherine then participated in the Visiting Student Programme at the University of Oxford. Finally, they completed a summer session in Chinese Language and Literature at the Harvard Beijing Academy.
