Chris Castro

Chris Castro serves as the Senior Advisor for State and Community Engagement in the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy at the U.S. Department of Energy, a position held since July 2022 following a tenure as the inaugural Chief of Staff for the Office of State and Community Energy Programs. In addition, Chris is a Climate Action Advisory Board Member for the United Negro College Fund, focusing on environmental leadership development at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Previous roles include Director of Sustainability & Resilience for the City of Orlando, Co-founder and President of the nonprofit IDEAS For Us, and Founding Director of Climate First Bank. Chris's commitment to sustainable practices is further reflected through contributions to various organizations, including serving on the Boards of the Florida Solar Energy Center and Fleet Farming. Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science & Policy from the University of Central Florida.
