Nontobeko Ndlovu has extensive work experience in various roles related to health research and program management. From 2011 to the present, they have worked at The Aurum Institute, starting as a Research Manager and eventually becoming the Head of Department for the Implementation Research Division. In this role, they oversee research and scientific evaluations in HIV and TB prevention, care, and treatment. Nontobeko leads a multidisciplinary team and applies scientific inquiry to inform health care policies and practices. Ndlovu also served as a Senior Program Manager, where they led the evaluation and implementation of Digital Adherence Technologies to support patients on TB treatment. Prior to their work at The Aurum Institute, they worked at the National Health Laboratory Service as the Supervisor of the Coagulation Laboratory from 2009 to 2011. In this role, they were responsible for the daily operation of the laboratory and supervision and training of laboratory staff.
Nontobeko Ndlovu has a diverse education background with a specialization in the medical field. In 2003, they attended the University of Limpopo where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Medical Science Honours with a focus on Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology. Nontobeko further pursued their education at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2007 to 2009, earning a Master of Science in Medicine specializing in Molecular Medicine and Haematology.
In 2010, Nontobeko obtained a certification in Molecular Medicine and Haematology Laboratory-Independent Practice from the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa). This certification highlights their expertise and proficiency in this specific field.
Nontobeko later attended the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017 to undertake a Specialized Project Management program. This program provided their with additional skills and knowledge in project management.
Most recently, Nontobeko enrolled at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 2020. Nontobeko is currently pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology and Biostatistics. This program demonstrates their interest in public health and their desire to contribute to the field through research and data analysis.
