Richard Denniss

Richard Denniss is an experienced economist and policy expert currently serving as the Executive Director and Chief Economist at The Australia Institute since July 2008. Previously, Richard held several roles, including staffer in the Australian Parliament from 2004 to 2009, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Crawford School of Economics and Government at the Australian National University from December 2007 to July 2008, and Strategy Adviser for Senator Bob Brown during Richard's tenure with The Australian Greens from August 2005 to November 2007. Earlier positions include Deputy Director at The Australia Institute from 2003 to 2005 and Chief of Staff and Senior Policy Adviser for Senator Stott Despoja with the Australian Democrats from May 2001 to November 2002. Richard also has a background in academia, having served as a Professor at the University of Newcastle from February 1995 to April 2000. Richard holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics from the University of Sydney.
