Dr. Sally Penni MBE serves as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Salford since 2020, providing undergraduate lectures while concurrently practicing law. Dr. Penni is an advisory board member for the University of Salford's Law School and is involved with the United Nations as a delegate for the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) in 2024, focusing on women's equality and rights. Additional roles include being a Board Advisor for The Coping, a Governor at Parrs Wood High School, a representative to the Bar Council Race Panel, and an Advisor for Durham Law School. As an award judge for WeAreTheCity and a public speaker for Speakers Associates Ltd, Dr. Penni also contributes to the University of Liverpool's Advisory Board and holds a directorial position at the Chartered Management Institute. Education includes a short executive course at The University of Manchester and affiliation with the Honourable Society of Grays Inn in London.

The Bar Council is also the Approved Regulator of the Bar of England and Wales, although we discharge our regulatory functions through the independent Bar Standards Board. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of ethics, equality and diversity across the profession, as well as ensuring that the Bar can attract and retain the brightest and the best, irrespective of background.
