Sara Geelan

Sara Geelan currently serves as the Deputy Director, General Counsel, and Assistant Secretary at the Barnes Foundation, a position held since May 2013. Prior experience includes roles as Senior Counsel and Associate General Counsel at the Guggenheim Museum from 2006 to 2013, and Associate General Counsel at The Art Institute of Chicago from 2004 to 2006. Sara began a legal career as a Trusts & Estates Associate at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP from 1998 to 2004 and served as an Attorney at The Museum of Modern Art for a year in 1997-1998. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School (1997), a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from The Johns Hopkins University (1991), a study at the Bologna Center for International Relations (1990), and a high school diploma from Stuyvesant High School (1987).
