Daniel Gaynor

Dr. Gaynor has extensive experience in antitrust and competition matters, including the analysis of the competitive effects of mergers and acquisitions and various horizontal and vertical restraints.

Dr. Gaynor specializes in combining industrial organization theory and computer modeling to analyze competition issues relating to mergers, international trade investigations, and intellectual property disputes. His work often involves the application of empirical industrial organization methods to competition policy. He has extensive experience in a variety of industries including aerospace, airline transportation, consumer goods, electronics, health care, metals, paper, pharmaceuticals, software, telecommunications, and petroleum and gas industries.

Prior to joining The Brattle Group, Dr. Gaynor was an economist in the Bureau of Economics at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). He co-authored several FTC reports on mergers and competition in the petroleum industry and oversaw the Commission’s Gasoline & Diesel Price Monitoring Project from 2002-2006.
