Imani Waweru

Imani Waweru is an experienced legal professional with a focus on civil rights and criminal defense. Currently serving as Training Team Supervisor and Staff Attorney at The Bronx Defenders, Imani has previously held positions as a Student Attorney at the Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic and as a legal intern at the U.S. Department of Justice's Civil Rights Division. Additional experience includes work as a legal intern for the DC Prisoners' Rights Project at the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and as an extern for the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights. Imani holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, earned between 2016 and 2018, and also studied at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law from 2015 to 2016.
