Aila Malik

Trainer at The Carey Group

An experienced trainer of professionals in corrections, education, and community-based organizations, Aila Malik joined Carey Group’s training team in 2015. For more than 20 years, she has also worked as a nonprofit entrepreneur and executive, including serving as the chief operations officer and chief strategic officer of Fresh Lifelines for Youth, a national organization focused on preventing juvenile delinquency and incarceration, and launching reentry programming for adults who are justice-involved. In addition, Aila has developed juvenile justice protocols for probation departments throughout the country; served on the leadership team for Disproportionate Minority Contact/Confinement issues in Santa Clara County, California; and held adjunct lecturer positions for juvenile justice courses at Santa Clara University School of Law and Lincoln Law School. In 2015, Aila founded Venture Leadership Consulting (VLC), which specializes in executive coaching, organizational change, and developing and implementing strategic initiatives in the nonprofit and public sectors. Through VLC, Aila and her team have worked with nearly 100 organizations amid change initiatives—developing and refining methodologies to help them clarify, efficiently operationalize, and scale their intended impact.
