Paul Smith

Paul is responsible for oversight of legal functions and staff within the organization, for managing work by outside legal counsel, and for developing strategic policies to minimize legal risk. In addition, Paul oversees the property acquisitions and closings teams and serves on the acquisitions review committee. Under Paul’s direction, the company has completed over $100 Million of new acquisitions.

Before joining The Carroll Companies, Paul served as general counsel for various organizations, including a real estate development and homebuilding company, a private equity firm, and a family office, and was a partner with the Charlotte, NC firm of Culp Elliott & Carpenter.

Paul is an active member of the North Carolina State Bar.
