Sebastian Lema

Sebastian Lema has a diverse work experience in various fields related to climate finance and sustainability. Sebastian has held the position of Carbon Markets and Climate Finance Director at CCAP since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Carbon Markets and Sustainable Finance Specialist at Ecopetrol from 2021 to 2023.

From 2019 to 2021, Sebastian was a Climate Finance and Land Use Specialist at Climate Focus, and from 2018 to 2019, they served as a Humboldt Research Fellow at adelphi in Berlin.

Before that, Sebastian worked as the Coordinator of the Climate Finance Group at the National Planning Department of Colombia from 2016 to 2017. During this time, they supported the approval of significant non-reimbursable cooperation for Colombia from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and participated in GCF Board meetings.

From 2013 to 2016, Sebastian worked as a Climate Policy and Finance Advisor for the Low Carbon Resilient Development Program at the National Planning Department of Colombia, with support from USAID/USFS.

Sebastian also gained experience as a research project on the feasibility of introducing hybrid buses in BRT systems in Latin America at Transmilenio Bogotá and Volvo Buses Latin America in 2012. Sebastian conducted research and analysis in various cities including Barcelona, Bogotá, Curitiba, New York, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

Additionally, Sebastian served as an intern at Sumamos Consultora in 2012, where they conducted diagnostic studies for sustainable remodeling projects in Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria.

At Fundacion Pensar Verde, Sebastian worked as an Administrative Director from 2008 to 2011. This was the first environmental NGO in Colombia focused on electronic recycling, and Sebastian was responsible for financial structuring and partnerships related to electronic waste management.

Sebastian began their career as an intern at the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology & Environmental Research of Colombia (IDEAM) in 2008.

Sebastian Lema pursued their education at Lund University from 2010 to 2012, where they completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Environmental Management and Policy. Prior to this, between 2005 and 2008, Sebastian attended Universidad Nacional de Colombia, where they studied Business Administration.
