Chris Contakes

Chris Contakes has held various high-level positions in the technology field throughout their career. Chris is currently the Chief Technology Officer at The Chronicle of Higher Education since May 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Information Officer at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from March 2019 to April 2022. Chris also held the role of Senior Technology Advisor at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from September 2018 to March 2019. Before that, they were the Vice President Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at The Pew Charitable Trusts from November 2015 to September 2018. Chris served as the Vice President, Information Technology at Public Broadcasting Service from June 2012 to November 2015. Chris held the position of CTO at Atlantic Media Company from January 2011 to June 2012. Chris was the Chief Technology Officer at National Journal from May 2009 to January 2011. Chris worked as the Director, Application Development at Atlantic Media Company from March 2008 to April 2009. Chris served as the Manager, Application Support at Agentrics from February 2007 to February 2008. At WashingtonPost.Newsweek Interactive, they held the position of Manager, Content Management Systems from October 2001 to January 2007.

Chris Contakes earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh between 1988 and 1992. Later, from 1995 to 1997, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science at American University.
