Director Of Planning And Development at THE CITY OF NORTH VANCOUVER

Sean Galloway has extensive work experience in urban planning, design, and development. Sean is currently the Director of Planning And Development at the City of North Vancouver, a position they have held since 2023. Prior to this, Sean served as the Director of Regional Planning and Electoral Area Services at Metro Vancouver from 2020 to 2023. Sean also worked as the Manager of Planning at the City of North Vancouver from 2017 to 2020.

In addition, Sean has held various roles in different organizations, including the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer as a Steering Committee Member - Built Environment Expert since 2017 and the Council for Canadian Urbanism (CanU) as a Board Member from 2018 to 2020.

Earlier in their career, Sean worked as a Manager of Urban Design and GIS, as well as an Urban Designer, at the City of London from 2007 to 2017. Sean also served as a Senior Urban Designer at the Town of Oakville from 2005 to 2007, the City of Whittlesea from 2003 to 2005, and Hume City Council from 2002 to 2003.

Furthermore, Sean has a background in education, having worked as a Part-time Professor at Fanshawe College from 2014 to 2017, teaching courses on urban design and planning. This experience equipped him with knowledge in city building, public realm design, and the integration of the private realm with the public realm through the planning process.

Sean Galloway, RPP, MCIP completed their Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Urban Planning from the University of Waterloo in the year 2000. Following this, they pursued a Master's of Urban Development and Design with a focus on Urban Design at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) from 2000 to 2001.
