Michael Owellen

Michael Owellen has a strong background in engineering and consulting. Michael currently holds the position of Senior Engineering Director at The College Board since September 2017. Prior to that, they worked as the Practice Manager at Datastrong for six years, from August 2011 to September 2017. Michael also served as the Consulting Manager at Claraview, a division of Teradata, from August 2003 to August 2011. In addition, they have experience as the Vice President of the Board of Directors at ImagiNation Learning Center from 2007 to 2009. Before that, they co-founded and served as the CEO of InSite Sports LLC from 2001 to 2003. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Senior Consultant at MicroStrategy, Inc. from June 1999 to July 2002. Michael also held positions at Deloitte & Touche, LLP as a Consultant from July 1998 to June 1999, and at Andersen Consulting as an Analyst from August 1997 to July 1998.

Michael Owellen earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 1991-1995. Michael then pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech from 1995 to 1997. Additionally, they obtained multiple certifications, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in December 2023, Certified Scrum Product Owner and Certified ScrumMaster from Scrum Alliance in December 2017, and Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute in December 2015.
