Sophia Rentschler is an experienced journalist and researcher currently serving as a Health and Higher Education Reporter for Columbia Missourian since August 2024 and as a Research Assistant at the University of Missouri-Columbia since October 2023, where data from astronomical images is processed. Previous roles include Fundraising Assistant at KBIA 91.3 FM, Co-President and Secretary of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists MU Chapter, Managing Editor for The Maneater, and Production Assistant for KOMU 8 & Mid-Missouri CW. Notable internship experience includes video production at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where video concepts were pitched and camera operations were executed for significant live events. Sophia is pursuing dual Bachelor’s degrees in Physics and Journalism, with a focus on Science Communication, at the University of Missouri-Columbia, following a high school background in journalism from Westerville-North High School.
