Alexis Aplasca, MD, FAAP, FAPA, currently serves as the Senior Clinical Advisor for the Governor’s Behavioral Health Transformation Plan with the Commonwealth of Virginia since January 2023. In addition, Alexis has been the Chief Clinical Officer at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services since August 2018, focusing on enhancing physician leadership and clinical transformation. Prior experience includes roles such as Medical Director at Magellan Health (2017-2018), Pediatric & Psychiatry Medical Consultant at the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services (2016-2017), and Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University (2013-2017), where Alexis also directed psychiatric services for pediatrics at VCU Health. Earlier roles include Clinical Instructor at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine (2009-2013), Medical Consultant for the International Medical Corps (2012), and an intern at the World Health Organization (2012). Alexis started a career as a chemist at Wyeth from 2001 to 2003.
