The Crucible
CJ Martinez is an accomplished archivist, historical researcher, and book specialist with extensive experience in curation and archiving. Currently serving as an Independent Specialist since January 2014, CJ provides a range of services in historical research and genealogy. At The Crucible, CJ has been actively involved since February 2009, contributing to public engagement and educator roles, as well as managing special projects and events. As the owner of Fire Selkie Creations, CJ designs unique handmade jewelry. Experience also includes roles in event and marketing consultation for Rising Stars In The Southwest and property management for Valhaus LP. CJ has a strong background in book specialization, exemplified by the role at University Press Bookstore, where significant sales growth was achieved. Educational background includes a B.A. in Medieval Studies from UC Santa Barbara and additional studies in Medieval Studies and Archaeology at the University of California, Berkeley.

Through training in the fine and industrial arts, The Crucible promotes creative expression, reuse of materials, and innovative design while serving as an accessible arts venue for the general public.
