Andrew Kirell is a journalist and editor with experience in the space and technology industries. Andrew is currently Cheat Sheet and Express Editor at The Daily Beast.

Before joining The Daily Beast, Kirell was a space reporter for MIT Technology Review from August 2019 to September 2021. In this role, they covered stories on science and technology, with a focus on space exploration, artificial intelligence, robotics, and physics.

From March 2016 to September 2017, Kirell was an associate editor at Inverse.com, where they wrote and edited articles on science and technology topics. Prior to that, they were an editorial fellow at WIRED from January 2015 to June 2015.

Kirell began their career as an editorial intern at IEEE Spectrum in September 2014 and later interned at Popular Science from May 2014 to August 2014. In their role at Popular Science, they managed social media tools, wrote and edited articles, and provided administrative support for the office staff.

After completing their internships, Kirell became a freelance science and tech journalist in September 2017. Andrew has also served as blog editor at Scienceline from April 2014 to November 2014, and as communications intern at the American Horticultural Society from September 2012 to January 2013.

Andrew Kirell received their Master of Arts in Journalism from New York University and their Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech.
