Leonard Woolsey

Leonard Woolsey is an accomplished media executive currently serving as the publisher of The Galveston County Daily News, recognized as the 2023 Publisher of the Year by Editor & Publisher Magazine. With extensive experience in the newspaper industry, Woolsey has held leadership positions at Southern Newspapers, Coast Monthly magazine, and the Texas Press Association, where contributions included advocating for transparency laws. Previous roles encompassed group publisher at Paxton Media Group and various publisher positions across multiple daily and weekly newspapers in the Atlanta market, Chicago metro, and Mississippi. Woolsey holds a BS in Mass Communications from the University of Central Missouri and has been honored as an honorary alumni by the University of West Georgia in 2012.
